Are the northern lights guaranteed on a tour?
No. Aurora depends on solar activity and clear sky, and no honest operator guarantees a sighting. Chase-format tours improve the odds by driving to clear weather, sometimes across the Finnish or Swedish border, and several operators offer weather refunds or discounted second chances. When is whale season in Norway?
Late October to the end of January, when orcas and humpbacks follow the herring into the fjords near Skjervøy, northeast of Tromsø. Outside that window the whale boats do not sail, which is the strongest honesty signal an operator can give.

The sun stays below the horizon from about November 27 to January 15, and yes, the aurora, whale and husky tours all run through it. Midday brings a long blue twilight rather than blackness, and the extended dark hours are an advantage for the lights.
Are the fjords a UNESCO World Heritage site?
Two of them are: Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord were inscribed together in 2005 as the West Norwegian Fjords. Other famous fjords, including the water on the Bergen and Oslo cruises, are beautiful but not part of the UNESCO listing, and we keep that distinction straight on every page.
